How to choose a unique name for your dog?

I named my dogs Kuya and Bunso. 

Kuya is a polite term of endearment for an older brother. Meanwhile, bunso means youngest.

As a fur parent, I want to name my dogs with something that they can easily respond to. Therefore, it pays to have

names that are easy to remember. 

  1. Choose a name that’s easy to pronounce

Anais, Mazikeen, Amenadiel, Eos, Mireille, Saoirse, and Cian. Such beautiful names. But the pronunciation, well, that’s a different story. Save yourself from the hassle and find names that are easy to pronounce instead. 

  1. Choose a name that has few syllables

Go with names that have 2 to 3 syllables. But if you’re dog has a long name, a nickname would help. For example, if your dog’s name is Alexander, call him Alex or Al. 

  1. Choose a name that makes you happy

I have a friend who named his dog Cookie, because it reminded him of Cookie Monster, his favorite Muppet from Sesame Street. Meanwhile, my other friend named his Shih Tzu Graham, because he likes graham crackers. 

It’s funny how we can come up with silly names for our pets. But sometimes, silly means happy. So, if that name puts a smile on your face, then it’s worth it.

One of the most precious memories I cherish with my dogs is the look on their eyes every time I call them for cuddle time. Both my dogs are incredibly gentle. Kuya loves belly rubs. Meanwhile, Bunso loves to sit on my lap and watch me work.
